You’ve experienced a lot of loss and that must be hard to deal with. Of course it’s normal for you not to have as much in common with your friends when their lifestyles change, but friendships can still survive on a different level, and you’ll probably make new friends that you have more in common with. You could still grow old and find yourself alone even with children. Our nursing homes are full of people whose children don’t visit or spend time with them, so nothing is a given, as you know. I wish you great success in finding a great life that you will enjoy, filled with people you care about, whether that happens to be with or without children. As far as being judged for not having children…we tend to believe people think a lot more about us than they actually do, since most people are too caught up in their own lives to give much thought to anyone else. So don’t worry about what anyone else thinks!
