You are right. Without Trump, the hatred would attempt to find another target, only few targets of that vitriol rise to the bait as readily as Trump. There have been attempts to stir the cauldron of hate towards others, but those attempts have fallen short because other potential victims are better at deflecting the attacks.

On another note, I believe the hatred is intentional. It is being stirred by those who want to pit people against people for their own nefarious motives. And because we have lost the art of critical thinking and the moral compass that guides our hearts, we are easy prey.
