Wonderful post, George. As always. Yesterday I was teaching an adult Sunday School class, filling in for the usual instructor. I told a story of time Corrie Ten Boom spoke about forgiveness and was then approached by a man she recognized as one of the Nazi guards during her imprisonment. He asked for forgiveness, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel it. Knowing she must be obedient to Jesus’ command to forgive, she reached out to shake his hand anyway. Through the simple act, which went against her own internal feelings, she felt an electric current, the power of the Holy Spirit, shock her arm and also her heart. By taking a step of forgiveness, her heart was transformed. She now felt truly forgiving. Sometimes the act comes before the feeling.
