Today President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris arrive in Georgia. Their trip to one of the voter rights battleground states comes during attempts to pass a federal voter rights act.

Democrats say Republicans are trying to strip Blacks of the right to vote and return to an Era of Jim Crow laws by passing new laws that limit minority access to voting.

Republicans claim they are trying to avoid voter fraud and ensure fair elections.

Curious, I decided to examine exactly what the new Georgia election laws say. I believe as involved citizens, we should study the laws our governments are passing instead of reading a partisan Democrat or Republican slant on the issue.

Here’s what I found out about Georgia’s new law.

Voters must have some form of identification to vote by mail, and they must include a copy of a driver’s license or state-issued ID when applying for a ballot and when returning a ballot.

If they don’t have an ID, they must include their date of birth and last four digits of their social security number with their ballot.
