What a great article, George. Your discussion about being your own enemy reminded me that Andy Stanley is preaching a series on How not to be your own worst enemy. I don’t attend that church so haven’t heard it, but sounds intriguing. What you say about being “nice” at work is true, too. I was generally an easy manager to get along with and tried to be kind to people, therefore many underestimated my skills and determination. They only had respect for those who came off as a bit more totalitarian, which is a shame.
