Well, it’s a surprise to find Ayn Rand quoted on this platform, when many people’s opinions here are the antithesis of what she advocates. But Atlas Shrugged was a highly influential book, and I think everyone should read it.

I agree with her on many points, except for her failure to view spirituality and faith as important aspects of life. Taylor Caldwell espoused Rand’s same economic theories, but incorporated the spiritual realm as well. However, in trying to reread Caldwell, I’ve discovered the writing now seems flowery and overdone compared to the sort of prose I’ve become used to.

It would be interesting to reread Atlas Shrugged now and see what I think.
