We do tend to bring our baggage with us! My sister and I have often talked about how fearful our mother was, and how that rubbed off. For instance, she was so afraid of lightning that she would herd us into the center of the house if there was a storm. It drove her crazy that my father, indifferent to her fear and urgings, would sit on the front porch swing during a storm while the rest of us hovered inside.
