Two reasons come to mind. One is spiritual attack from "the other side," the devil, whatever you want to call it, for those who claim to be Christians. Another is Cheap Grace. Too many Christians have bought into the much-preached notion that free grace means a hollow profession of faith will get into heaven, but you don't need to be obedient to Christ's instructions that we love and forgive.
