Two of my granddaughters are sisters, but look entirely different. One is blonde and the other had dark curly hair. Whenever they go anywhere, people comment on how pretty the blonde one is without saying anything about the older girl, who is just as beautiful. This upsets their mother. But people mean well, they’re not thinking, and people cannot always be protected from things that are hurtful or discriminatory.
