There's nothing new under the sun, as scripture and the song based on it say. Public shaming has made it's way here, but was common in China's cultural revolution and is common in North Korea today. When we abandon values like forgiveness, everyone who doesn't tow the ever-moving line will sooner or later be tossed overboard by the mob.
