That’s a good point, Joe. I think there might be a variety of reasons for this, at least for me. There’s a fear I might look like I’m just trying to flatter someone for my own advantage, or that my compliments might be ignored or rebuffed; not valid reasons for withholding positive feedback, because those emotions all revolve around me. When I look at friends who are very encouraging, I aspire to be more like them.
