Thanks for such a thoughtful and thorough response, Sherry. Scripture tells us God looks at the heart of a person more than the outside, which I interpret to mean that he looks at the fruits of our spirit (i.e. love, joy, peace, patince, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) more than outward professions of faith that hide an unkind and judgmental heart. God’s kingdom to me is the inward transformation manifested in outward good works rather than adherence to a religious doctrine that doesn’t result in fruits of the spirit.
