Thank you so very much, KD! You don’t know how much your words mean to me. It’s interesting, I never thought I’d write fiction (again) until I joined Warrior Writers and started responding to the prompts, because I had convinced myself following years of rejection that I just wasn’t talented enough. But now I’ve come to believe that writing isn’t so much a matter of talent as it is of practicing a lot, reading, reading and reading some more, and then feeling an emotion deep within and trying to bring it to life through words. We don’t need to feel the same sorrows as Rose if we can tap into other sorrows of love and loneliness that we’ve felt. Interesting you should mention my grandchildren and children. I had to tell my daughter elaborate stories when she was young to keep her still while I washed her long hair. When I worked at the thrift store, my grandchildren used to sit around the table and say “Tell me another thrift store story, Grandma!”
