Patrick, if Jesus told stories in parables, what makes you think the Adam and Eve story isn't a parable as well, designed by God to make a point? It doesn't have to be a factual event to believe in the message. Jesus said he told stories to prepare people to understand the truth. The Bible is God's message, full of nuance, literature, poetry, historical events and, yes, parables. Taken together, they lead and guide us to spiritual truths. There is a message behind every story.
