Oh Louise, I love! We were the same way, with only death or some other calamity making room for one more graduate to move up from the kid’s table. They used to accuse my mother of being a martyr and overly-polite because she tried to give up her spot at the big table, but now I realize she knew she’d enjoy the kid table more! Unfortunately, since she was main cook and hostess, she always got dragged back to the dining room.
