Oh dear, my friend! Hit the reset button! I'm old, too. And I'll share something. It was very freeing for me when I realized I NO LONGER CARED about being a published writer, about writing as a career, about rejections. I. just. didn't.

Now I write for fun. And if my words resonate with somebody, I'm glad I've made an impact. But I have no career writing aspirations and it is so freeing. Each day is an adventure again. I'm grateful for social security. Grateful I don't have to depend on writing for my income.

You are talented. You are gifted. Who knows what the future will bring? But also, who cares what anybody on Medium or anybody else thinks?
