Nice article, Kris. You’re echoing Solomon’s words in Ecclesiastes: “Smoke, nothing but smoke. There’s nothing to anything; it’s all smoke.” So there truly is “nothing new under the sun.”

But fortunately for my faith, Solomon concludes by saying: “There’s no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you’re good for nothing else. The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you. And that’s it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil.” Ecc. 12:12–14.

Solomon also says, “Oh, how sweet the light of day, and how wonderful to live in the sunshine! Even if you love a long time, don’t take a single day for granted.” 11:7

So yes, be grateful and enjoy the gift of every day!
