My husband when he was a high school teacher was accused of racism by the father of one of his students for trying to help the student succeed by demanding the boy turn in his homework. My husband thought the student was very smart but unmotivated and rebellious.

There is nothing remotely racist about my husband, who won Teacher of the Year award in an underperforming school before transferring to the one where he was accused.
