My husband and I decided years ago to put some aside for retirement and to also give 10 percent away to charity (church, feeding hungry children, etc.) no matter how much or how little we made. We’ve never regretted these decisions, or the money we gave away. Strangely, doing this made us less materialistic and less envious of those who lived in bigger houses, had nicer cars, etc. We felt like we were doing some good in the world with the money, and the savings have freed us up tremendously to follow more of our dreams. You’re giving wise advice in this article.
