My daughter has had numerous foster children. She had one pair of siblings she was planning to adopt, they were with her two years, and then they were returned to their drug-addicted mother. She has another pair of siblings for the past two years, a teenage boy and elementary school age girl. There have been problems, as there always are with children, especially ones who have that much baggage from a terrible home life. But she still wants to adopt them.

Fortunately last year the foster regulations in the United States were eased somewhat in an effort to recruit more foster parents because there is such a deficit. Now the rule is that anything you would reasonably do with your own child you can do with the foster child. So she can take them on vacations, I can care for them overnight, etc. Fostering is a tough job, but there are so many children who have awful home situations that there is great need. Thanks for sharing!
