Love? What is your definition of love? Mostly, it’s used in reference to someone or something we know or have personal experience of. But not knowing James, other than through these correspondences and what he’s written, I’ll tell you truthfully how I feel. I feel sorrow, for the tragedies and loss he’s experienced. Compassion, for the hurt he’s endured. Regret, that he believes all Christians are intolerant and in some way responsible for his pain. Admiration, for his passion and writing ability. Hope, that he will feel Christ’s love in ways that transcend its flawed and less than perfect representatives here on earth.
