Looking at it from another perspective, I’ve also noticed that parents who treat their kids the worst are frequently the ones to be valued and fawned over by their children, and the parents who were never abusive but truly have been trying to make a legitimate connection are frequently the ones most vilified. I don’t know how to explain this, but I’ve seen it play out over and over again.
