Jack, I’ve thought about your conundrum a few times myself. Should I set aside a day (or two) a week to work on my book? Or should I just keep blogging on Medium? And then…Why do I overthink things at all? It’s not as if it matters to the world what I write, so I’ll just have fun with it.

The balancing act for me even exists within Medium. The stories I enjoy writing the most are ones that don’t get curated or distributed widely. The ones that are of least interest to me are the ones that seem to resonate here.

One thing I’ve decided I’m not going to do is spend lots of time marketing, getting an email list and doing all those time-consuming things that we’re supposed to do to build a following. It’s all too much drudgery for me. This makes me glad I’m not still young and trying so hard to be successful.
