I don't know that atheists are hated, but perhaps you're right. You would know, if you are one and have experienced that.

I believe hatred will always exist in the human heart, if we allow the evil part of our nature to overcome the good. They are always at war.

I also believe even if Christians behaved perfectly, in kindness and love, which is impossible because no one is perfect, they would still be hated by some. Hatred must find an object. Even Jesus was hated, to the point of crucifixion. But believing a believer, I hold to my faith that He (meaning Jesus, God, love) will ultimately overcome the bad forces that pull is in another direction.
