I used to fly first class a lot many decades ago when I was a flight attendant, because planes weren't as full back then and we could upgrade if any seats were available. Of course, wherever we sat was free. Since I left that job I haven't flown first class, because every time I've checked, it's been THOUSANDS of dollars more, not just $500.
