I think this might be true of the U.S. church as well. But maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing, more similar to the church's early beginnings.

Much of the world has always rejected the message of the Gospel and opposed those who believe it, but when the church gains power and prestige, the message of Christ too often becomes corrupted.
