I think one more ideology needs to be added to the mix. It's now liberal, conservative, or progressive. True liberals seem to be a dying breed, or maybe they would now be called libertarian. Rather than our views changing, I believe the conservatives and progressives have both swung in more radical directions than they were when I was younger.
