I think it's really cruel the way elementary school teachers at my school picked the most popular girls to be team captains, and them let them get up in front of the class and choose their teams, one girl at time. I was always the last one chosen for ball, so there I sat, one child left sitting, while the teams lined up. It's almost like the teachers enjoyed seeing that humiliation.
