I taught an adult church class just this morning on religion without humility leading to judgmentalism because religious people begin to believe they’re right about everything. My study pointed out the problem with people who are religious but not spiritual. They embace a set of rules and regulations instead of a faith in God that is expressed through joy, peace, patience, kindness, compassion, and love. Religion is not the same as faith. Religion by itself can lead to a Taliban-like oppressiveness. Faith, which involves the spirit, can lead to a relationship with God that elevates us to our greater and higher calling.
