I hope your family recovers and remains healthy. I don't believe we can reach herd immunity any more than we can with the flu because of different variants. That's why we have to get a flu vaccine every year. It also seems the vaccine isn't as effective as was originally touted, because of the variants. I still advocate getting it. My husband and I are vaccinated as are my son, his wife and their daughter. But some of the most heavily vaccinated countries in the world are seeing some big spikes in cases, so obviously we need something else, too. Maybe a greater focus on therapeutics? Maybe vaccines that address the various, similar to the way we do flu vaccines? There is so much that is unknown. We've made great and miraculous progress with the vaccines, but we have received many mixed messages regarding everything. This is why ultimately I hesitate to blame or shame anyone.
