I finally decided it was up to other people to entertain me at pubs, parties and weddings, and not the other way around. Puts the social burden on them.

And another thing... if I wanted to sit silently and not talk I would happily do just that. Because we're writers, right? We need to observe instead of always trying to either jump into or avoid the fray.
