I don’t believe the United States has initiated the pointless and destructive conflicts you speak of, given the proliferation of violent confrontation initiated by dictators throughout history, both past and present. But I do think you make some good points and am in agreement that we should not try to spread our system of government, culture, etc. to other countries, nor should we continue to police the world with our ongoing military presence in these countries. But I think it would be naive not to admit that our withdrawal from certain countries would most certainly lead to aggression from other countries. North Korea is not a benevolent, benign neighbor to South Korea and would most certainly move aggressively in that direction, for example. Are we prepared to allow free countries to be taken or would we be prepared to intervene once again having withdrawn? We can’t look at the world through rose-colored glasses and pretend that by toning down our military and our world presence that other countries would suddenly want to live in peace and harmony with the rest of the world.
