I always overpack because I never know what the weather is going to be. And I still usually miss it and wish I had something different. But I've learned to check my luggage, especially since you can't take all those liquids on a carry-on. It's so much easier and frees me from the worry of having to shove something in one of those overhead bins or leave some clothes behind that I'm going to need.
