Great read. I was visiting a beach one year when baby turtles were hatching. Everyone kept their cabin lights out so the turtles wouldn't crawl toward the light instead of toward the ocean, which would have been fatal for them. Also, as soon as some of the turtles made it to the water's edge, birds swooped down and gobbled them up. It's amazing turtles still exist when the beginning of their life is so fraught with peril.
