Great article, Ruby! Nobody in my family has ever gone into assisted living, although many friends have. They've opted to stay in their homes until they died, except for my mother who developed dementia at 100 and moved in with me for the last 20 months of her life. But you've got a good point about people with relatives living alone and not having anyone to check up on them.
