Good for you! I love your house! People shouldn't spend so much time planning for old age and infirmity that they forget to enjoy the present. My husband and I aren't downsizing from our five-bedroom house because when the kids, their spouses and 12 grandkids come, we have plenty of room.

As far as having to navigate stairs, my sister had a stroke and her bed and bath are upstairs. She can't walk, let alone do stairs, so she got a stairlift installed. She sits on it and presses a button to get her from floor to floor. She has two wheelchairs, one parked at the top of the lift and one at the bottom. She still lives by herself.
