Different things work for Different people. My parents never socialized together with anyone except family. But I step out of my comfort zone to have couples over or ask them to meet us at a restaurant because I feel it enriches our relationship and broadens our horizons. On another note, I don't believe men find out the things about other people that women find out. They talk about sports and boring stuff with each other.
