Beautiful article, Lisa. Thanks for sharing your faith journey. Covid was a tragedy for those in nursing or care homes. My mother's dementia started out much the same way your mother's did; going from totally fine to hallucinations. We would call her and she would act like she had a houseful of visitors when nobody was there. I brought her to live me just before Covid, and was so glad I did, because if she had been place in a home, no one could have visited her.
