At least there have been some efforts to recognize privilege and level the playing field a little. For instance, in our local high school there are scholarships that are only available to minority students and some awards and internships only open to women and minorities.

Also, when my husband was a business manager and had a job opening, he was told he could only hire an additional person if he hired a Black applicant.

I hope all these attempts, along with affirmative action which is now an issue before the Supreme Court, have helped minorites over the years, although as you say, life will never be completely fair.
