Allison, I never insisted my husband attend church with me because we can’t go into a marriage believing we’re going to change someone. We accept them for who they are, beliefs and all. But I would invite my husband to attend dinners and other social functions at church that he enjoyed, and we would invite church couples our age over, thereby initiating friendships that he enjoyed.

I can’t say I resented couples that attended church together, because I saw too many of them divorcing and having other problems, and my husband and I have always gotten along very well. He always saw how joyful church and my faith made me, which was a big influence on him. A happy, cheerful person is hard to resist.

This is a big decision for you and only you can make it. The one thing I never did was deny or abandon my faith. I would have given him up before denying my faith, and I believe God had blessed my faithfulness as a result. You have big decisions to make, and I wish you many blessings.
