A system of government can never be disentangled from the natural tendenciy toward corruption and greed inherent in human nature unless tamed by the countering influences of ethics and conscience. Therefore, anything that doesn’t account for these motivations and a natural desire for power is doomed to devolve into an authoritarian and totalitarian regime unless checks and balances that account for these motivations are built into the system.
