I’m Grateful: A Poem of Thanksgiving

I’m grateful for your warm embrace when sorrow tugs my heart.
I’m grateful that you woo me back on days we drift apart.
At night when worries surface and call forth a nameless fear,
I’m grateful that you touch my soul and let me know you’re near.
I’m grateful that you walk with me through every transient season,
Giving rise to unexpected joys beyond all rhyme or reason.
I’m grateful that you love me even when I turn away.
Your love gives me the confidence to live another day.
One time I cried, I cheated and I ran away from you,
You told me that you understand the things I say and do.
I’m grateful you bestow this love to all who call your name,
Knowing our shortcomings yet still loving us the same.
